​LaserBond works in general engineering and surface technologies/engineering. National Production Manager, Steve Halloran, says "We use lasers and thermal sprays to deposit steel to reclaim or make better than new. We're like skin specialists for steel!"

LaserBond is an approximately $40 million per year company with around 100 employees across three Australian sites – one in Smeaton Grange (NSW), one in Adelaide and one in Melbourne.

Steve says they started working with MTC Recruitment in March 2020 as: "We found it difficult to obtain qualified tradesmen – we had put local ads out, but we just couldn't find them. One of the reasons we use a recruitment partner is to filter a lot of applications – we might get 100 resumes submitted, but we don't have the time to go through all of these, and often none of them will be appropriate. Using a recruitment partner streamlines this process into a much more efficient one, meaning we'll be given a handful of qualified candidates to choose from.

"MTC Recruitment approached us and introduced themselves. We advised them that there were around six companies vying for the opportunity to address our hiring needs – Jackie (Business Development Manager) and Charlene (Account Manager) advised that MTC were keen to throw their hat in the ring, and we went from there."

So far, LaserBond has employed two candidates through MTC, Peter and Timothy, who work full-time in CNC machining, milling and turning at their Smeaton Grange site. The duo have proven to be valuable additions to the team.
