We are looking for a Senior Payroll Officer with advanced expertise in Kronos and Micropay payroll systems to join their team. This is a 12-month contract role with the opportunity to transition to a permanent position based on performance. Position Overview:
As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of payroll processing, including overseeing time and attendance in Kronos and payroll processing through Micropay. You’ll ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, manage compliance with payroll laws, and identify opportunities to improve payroll processes. This role offers a great balance of both onsite and hybrid work flexibility, with the potential to grow into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing & Management:
Oversee and process bi-weekly/monthly payroll using Micropay, ensuring timely and accurate payments for all employees.
Manage and maintain Kronos time and attendance system, ensuring accurate timecards, approvals, and resolution of any discrepancies.
- System Administration & Troubleshooting:
Provide system administration support for Kronos and Micropay, troubleshooting issues and resolving payroll-related discrepancies.
Offer training and guidance to HR and employees regarding system usage and processes.
- Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll laws and regulations, including tax filings, deductions, superannuation contributions, and reporting.
Prepare payroll reports for internal management and external authorities.
- Payroll Inquiries & Issue Resolution:
Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, addressing issues such as pay discrepancies, benefits, deductions, and taxes in a timely and professional manner.
- Audit & Reconciliation:
Perform regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and consistency across both Kronos and Micropay systems.
Reconcile payroll reports, identifying and resolving discrepancies proactively.
- Continuous Improvement:
Continuously review payroll processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency and accuracy improvements.
Stay current with changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and system upgrades to ensure compliance with best practices.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in payroll administration, with substantial experience using Kronos and Micropay payroll systems.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax laws, superannuation, and reporting requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other payroll-related software tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
